Vedi Ayurvedic — Logo & Process

Client Brief:
We are an Ayurvedic medicinal supplements and skin/hair care products manufacturing company. Vedi literally means of knowledge. It's a Sanskrit word for someone who is wise. We would like a logo that looks traditionally Indian. The ancient-ness of Vedas should come out with something that remind us of the Indian sciences. We would like you to focus on the ancient-ness, traditional Indian-ness but must have a little modern twist to it. Some of the products will contain cannabis and while we want to advertise that, we do not want it to be evident in logo.
Alright!
Starting work, researching Ayurveda, looking at competitors, getting acquainted with the product landscape.
Watching Aastha TV.
Exploring ideas.
I  like two of these concepts. A simple dated hand-drawn leaf motif with a stylized wordmark that alludes to vines and herbs and another one which is a direct interpretation of Dhanvantari—God of Ayurveda who is traditionally depicted holding a pot of Elixir-of-life, Shankh (Conch shell), herbs and ancient scriptures on Ayurveda.
Passing by client.
The client likes the Dhanvantari concept and wants to see a more finalized form.
Trying to simplify the elements. Trying different approaches.
A little bit of abstraction and something interesting shapes up.
Creating complimentary looking type and trying the logo at small sizes.
Moving on. Attempting different enclosing shapes.
Presenting to the client.
The client likes the one with a rosette border and chakra and wants to see more conventional looking typefaces as well.
Trying different styles and lettering for the logo and variation of rays and sizes.
Finally settled on the dashed rays and drawing the letters to allude to writing in Devanagri script with a calligraphic pen. Balancing the wordmark and adding a hint of Shirorekha to letter V.
Presenting to client.
The logo will be used in multiple versions across packaging, web, advertising and a hundred other places. Creating two versions to be used as per context.
Admiring the work for a bit.
Trying different surfaces and colors.
It's done.
Setting up a usage guide for logo.
Thank you
