Typeface Design
For this project, I designed my own typeface by combining pre-existing serif, sans-serif, and unique typefaces. This method, reminiscent of Dr. Frankenstein’s procedures, resulted in “Pinseltype”. The typeface I created resembled calligraphic brushstrokes, so I and the posters I made echoed that resemblance. The word “Pinsel” is German for “brush,” so I thought the name was fitting for the way the typeface seemed to interact in the posters. I involved each letter of the typeface in the “ink” that seems to spill across the page from the front of the poster to the back of the poster. The sharply contrasting red, blue, and black coincide with the eery gothic feel of the typeface.
