GRAB A BITE

If you're a fan of just about any blockbuster franchise and you're also hungry, chances are good that you can find something to feed both of those afflictions. AMC's hit series The Walking Dead is the exception to this rule. It's been around for the better part of a decade, and yet there is a notable lack of options for fans who like to munch on their collectibles.

The reason for this is simple: The Walking Dead brand is just not appetizing. Stomachs turn in the wrong kind of way at the mere mention of blood and guts and dead things. In 2017 I was tasked to tackle this problem when AMC finally decided it was time to venture into consumables.
Using a grungy, monotone canvas as a starting point, I added bright pops of color, playful type, and illustrated iconic imagery. It was a fun, appealing approach while still staying on brand. Throwing in a clever tagline seemed to really do the trick, and suddenly I had myself a starting point. 

The recipe was anything but simple, but we got there in the end.
