This project was a collaboration between the Textile Design and Furniture Design students. Our textile design team created a collection of fabric designs and our client chose my ‘Feathers’. It was produced both as a digital print and jacquard. The finished piece ‘Heartwood Seat’ was shown at Furnitex and was a finalist in ‘Excellence in Student Design’ at the Australian Furniture of the Year 2013 (Vic Tas State) Awards.
Below shows the original design "Feathers'. Upon learning that the material needed to be a woven fabric, I learnt the software Scotweave and was able to have the fabric machine woven before dyeing it according the to new colour specifications given by the Furniture team.
