Package Design: HangTag

The Process:
The process begins with research and brainstorming. Researching ideas online, in books, and other designs that can be found in stores and other places. From there I formulate some unique ideas of my own sometimes with thought bubbles and sometimes just jotting down all my thought with sketches to guide me through the thought process. I pick a few of the best ideas to develop and evolve. With small thumbnails of my favorite ideas I can further narrow my selection down and continue the process with 2 remaining ideas and repeat that until I am left with my most suitable project idea and a full size hand composition of what the final product will look like. From there I move to the computer to recreate my design, testing placement, and color schemes further.

Project Specifics:
The Hangtag was the starting project of package design. I went a little overboard with some of my preliminary ideas and final decided simple was better. I designed the Hangtag for Nikau prescription sunglasses by Moobi. I was hoping to creating something that looked a little more extravagant and clean. One spot color was the limitation on our color scheme. I developed an appreciation for smaller designs at the completion of this project. From the small intricate design that is produced on a small 2 1/2" x 3" to the string used to attach the hangtag to the actual product. These little decisions that designers make every day influences the way a costumer looks at a product.
