Il progetto di tesi nasce dalla ricerca approfondita sul tema Diritto, Giustizia e Carceri. Dopo aver indagato l’ambito della Giustizia si sono svolti alcuni incontri con diverse persone esperte della materia. Sia la ricerca sia gli incontri hanno focalizzato l’attenzione sul tema del Carcere. Il particolare interesse verso ciò che avviene dopo il carcere, ha permesso di identificare alcune delle problematiche più comuni che riscontrano gli ex-detenuti una volta scontata la pena. Questo ha portato ad indagare sul percorso di reinserimento nella società e al rapporto con essa. Ciò che succede all’intero del carcere ha effetti anche dopo esserne usciti. Infatti, i detenuti che durante la loro carcerazione hanno avuto possibilità di partecipare a diversi tipi di attività, di lavorare e di avere un contatto graduale con l’esterno, sono riusciti ad integrarsi nella società molto più facilmente a differenza di coloro che in carcere non hanno avuto la possibilità di migliorare le loro potenzialità in termini lavorativi e relazionali. Da queste osservazioni è nata l’idea di creare due prodotti editoriali, uno che tocca il tema del “Dentro” e l’altro che tratta il tema del “Fuori”.

This project is based on a thorough research on Law, Justice and Prisons. After investigating the Justice field, several meetings were held with various experts. Both the research and the meetings focused on the subject of the Prison. The particular interest in what happens after the jail helped to identify some of the most common issues facing former prisoners. This led to investigate the reintegration path in society and the relationship with it. What happens when in jail can effect the life after it. Detainees who had the opportunity to participate in different types of activity during their imprisonment, to work and to have a gradual contact with the outside, are able to integrate into society much more easily, unlike those who did not have been able to improve their potential in working and relational terms. From these observations came the idea of ​​creating two editorial products, one touching the theme of "Inside" and the other dealing with the "Out" theme.

Azzero, un atlante carcerario è un libro che raccoglie dati statistici sulle carceri del territorio Italiano presentandole tramite infografiche accompagnate da testo e da fotografie. Inizialmente si è illustrata l’attuale situazione del sistema penitenziario italiano tramite dati statistici. Successivamente sono mostrate alcune delle buone pratiche già in atto, spesso non considerate nella loro reale rilevanza. La ricerca pone attenzione su quello che succede nelle carceri italiane e sui metodi indicati dalla legge, per capire quanto lo scopo di rieducazione e riabilitazione stabilito dalla Costituzione sia raggiunto. Integrarsi nella società permette di diminuire drasticamente l’eventualità che un ex-detenuto commetta nuovamente reato. Con questo libro si sono volute raccogliere informazioni sufficienti per fornire al lettore un quadro generale sul tema, una base da cui partire per approfondire ed elaborare un proprio pensiero. Il fine è far riflettere sul ruolo delle carceri e sulle posizioni degli ex-detenuti nella società.

Essere identificato come ex-detenuto crea molti pregiudizi e spesso questo diventa un limite. Al libro Azzero è stato quindi abbinato il periodico Ex, il giornale degli ex-detenuti. Mentre il libro si focalizza sulla pena, Ex si apre al mondo presentando sia temi collegati al carcere, ma anche alle esperienze da parte degli ex-detenuti che sono riusciti ad oltrepassare gli ostacoli per costruirsi un nuovo futuro. Ex può essere d’aiuto a chi vuole darsi una seconda possibilità, quindi si rivolge sia ai detenuti sia agli ex-detenuti, quale strumento di conoscenza, scambio, condivisione e supporto. Ex è uno strumento per coinvolgere tutti i cittadini che vogliono informarsi ed elaborare un proprio parere.

Azzero, un atlante carcerario (Azzero, a prison atlas) is a book that collects statistics on prisons in the Italian territory by presenting them through infographics accompanied by text and photographs. Initially, it was illustrated the present situation of the Italian penitentiary system with data. After this are shown some of the good practices already used, even if they are not considered as relevant as they are. Research focuses on what happens in Italian prisons and the methods set out by law, to understand how much the purpose of re-education and rehabilitation established by the Italian Constitution is achieved. Integrating into society can decrease the probability of an ex-detainee committing a crime again. With this book the aim is to gather enough information to provide the reader with a general picture on the subject, a basis from which to begin to deepen and elaborate one's own thought. The aim is to reflect on the role of prisons and the positions of ex-prisoners in society. Being identified as an ex-detainee creates prejudices and this can become a limit. To Azzero book was added the periodical (Ex, il giornale degli ex-detenuti) Ex, the former prisoner's newspaper. While the book focuses on punishment, Ex opens up the world by presenting both prison related issues and experiences from former prisoners who have managed to overcome obstacles to build a new future. Ex can help those who want a second chance, so it is addressed both to prisoners and ex-prisoners as a means of knowledge, exchange, sharing and support. Ex is a tool to involve all citizens who want to get information and to elaborate their own opinions.
