When designing this I originally had the "tables" set up asquasi-chairs, but then changed them to the flatter more table-likedesign you see here. The reasoning is people will always adapt objectsto their own needs and never care about the designer's intentions. So,if one person is there he can easily lay his bag or books, etc. on theflat surfaces, if more than one person is there, the "tables" willautomatically become "seats". The main goal was to create seating forinformal areas where people will be meeting and interacting in small groups for short periods of time.
