Adaptive Bicycle Rack

The need to move personal belongings on a bicycle

Based on the exploration of how Dieter Rams' 10 Design Principles can be applied to current, real industrial design, our project began with identifying a need to move personal belongings on bicycles.

Drawing on the two key insights of adaptability and sense of assurance, gained from research and interviews, our final design outcome is a rear-mounted bicycle rack that caters to young adults commuting to school or work via bicycles.

Unobtrusive design
Aesthetics from functionality
Using the concept of a hard top/soft bottom platform
