On september 2016 i had the chance to collaborate with one of the most impoirtant sculptors of Reunion island, Jack Beng-Thi.
My commission was about to bring to life through sketches the life of Alain Peters, a local music star that his light fall quite early in his career.
Alain Peters considered as a strong influence to local musicians, as he ''rocked'' the traditional music "maloya'' of the island with his own musical style.
Through video documents and photographs i tried to compose a collage that narrates us to his life from his birthday, his rise and his fall bisecting in 4 acts - drawings.
I used graphites, dry pastels, oil pastels and charcoal.
The installation view directed from Jack Beng - Thi concludes his handmade quitars that bring inside buffles that play recordings of the artist. In the middle we can see his west african quitar called xalam (halam) a symbolic instrument for Peters.
