During this project I was tasked with creating a product which acted as a gateway for the user to access the digital world. This was a group project and I was working with a team of five others. To start with we came up with a user personae, a 60 year old named Jim who had just recently retired. We then came up with the sorts of problems that Jim would encounter in his day to day life, during this time I had to use my knowledge of the target area and think about what they want in life rather than just thinking of my own needs. With these problems we could then start to create a specification for our product with the brief also in mind. We went away and started to come up with different concepts which would meet the brief. During this time my creative skills were tested as I had to come up with new, original ideas which meant whilst I was creating concepts I also had to research into what was already out there in terms of existing products.

The product had to be functional yet it still needed to have an aesthetic appeal, which meant carefully designed concepts were key. I met with my team and we decided that the product area we would be going into would be Health and Fitness. The concept we came up with combined healthy eating, fitness, doctor/patient communication and reminders for medication and appointments. I then split up responsibilities within the group for the work which had to be completed, from this I gained an idea of how to divide time for each group member to get the job completed efficiently. I was personally tasked with creating a CAD model of the the concept and rendering the product also to give an idea of what the product would actually look like. During this time I used and improved the CAD skills which I had attained from other modules. I also was part of the advert creation team, an aspect of design which I am relatively  unfamiliar with, however I gained a lot from the process and I feel as though my film making skills have improved dramatically. 

We then all collated what we had and came up with a presentation which had to have an organised running order. Presenting however, is also an area which I feel I am weak in but I feel I gained experience and confidence from it.

Using a methodical approach to the work really helped and I got the work completed in time, if I had to make any improvements on the work that was completed then I would have ensured that more time would be spent on making everything look more consistently professional.
