The Bad Side of Innocence
For the Children We Forget To Remember

It is easier
To find God staring back
From a child’s eyes….
Simply because the child
Hasn’t learned
the bad side of Innocence
Nor how to hide their feelings
From those taller people
Put in charge of lines, and wishes
And pushing
The little ones like them.
I wonder if God is ever
Sad we cannot see Him there
In places where a child learns
How tears come out of them.
