My team was approached by the agency handling the Sprite® (soft drink) account to create a user engagement product aimed at a more urban demographic. The idea we generated was a “rap kiosk” — a sound booth where consumers entered, selected a beat (sampled from recording artists, Nas, Notorious B.I.G.) and performed their own self-styled performance using an Android tablet application. Final recordings were sent to the consumer’s mobile device as a text message with a custom-framed preview and social sharing options. I designed the overall look and feel in Adobe Photoshop and after client feedback, prototyped the design and user interface in HTML and CSS (constructing the necessary JQuery). The finished product was completed by our Android developer while I monitored QA, set and achieved goals and solved challenges for maximum effectiveness. The final install was deployed at the 2015 BET Awards in Los Angeles to an unqualified success. “It was a premier fan engagement experience,” according to our client partner.
