FAIRIES IN THE NIGHT SKY

The world of chemistry is full of colors and amazement with all sorts of wonders hidden inside succinct formulae. Thanks to photography, we are able to appreciate the beauty of chemical reactions on the microscopic level and experience the mysterious connections between chemistry and the world where we reside.

Precipitation IV explores forms of precipitate resulted from more than 10 different precipitation reactions. A precipitation reaction refers to the formation of an insoluble solid when two solutions are combined. In these experiments, the precipitate looks as if it has a life of its own: it grows, expands, and come into existence from nothing at all. It has such diversified appearances like fairies in the night sky, inexplicable, mysterious, yet vaguely familiar at the same time.
This work was exhibited at The 5th Art and Science International Exhibition and Symposium.
