Westerheversand

Westerheversand is the name of a beautiful and famous lighthouse that was built in 1905 on a terp within extensive and protected marshes on the seaside of a dike. It is a great starting point for excursions into the mudflats of the wadden sea of North Frisia. In September 2017 I had the opportunity to stay in the lighthouse for three nights for a memorable photo tour with great nature photographers of the GDT. The photos reflect the dramatic and ever changing light and weather conditions on this exposed piece of earth, where you can feel the vastness of space probably better than in any other region in Germany.
