ABOUT
Logo and business card design I developed/created for a friend who started his own company as an archaeologist.

My creativity led me to design with round/circular shapes, which were very commonly used throughout history (referring to the design of antique coins, jewelry made out of animal bones, and occurrences in nature).

Tijmen really is a genuine guy with a big passion for his work. I wanted to reflect his passion for archeology and capture this in the final design. Both the old and new school elements refer to his work but also show a new generation of archeologists. This new generation thinks different about their industry and brings a breath of fresh air to an otherwise aging line of business. Previously, archeologists couldn't care less about design and how to present themselves; hence why some are struggling to get any business.

To compliment these shapes I wanted to use an object which not only communicates his line of business but also pulled the design together. By integrating some layers and boxes to the shape’s design I wanted to reflect his line of work; a very precise job that has to be carried out within a fine framework. At the
same time it also resembles the several layers of soil, called "stratigraphy". Stratigraphy helps an archeologist to determine the age, year, and period of time of everything they find.

After putting together the logo it was still missing something. So I came up with a punchline that communicates his work and his passion for the job: "BEYOND THE ARTEFACT".

And the cool thing is that they age really well in your wallet. Referring back to his line of business and the artifacts he finds. This adds just another layer to this design.
