Related 3D Objects Project
The Goal
To design and print two 3D objects that are related to each other.
For my project I decided to make a fish and a hook because of their simplistic geometry and the obvious relation with fishing.
Designing the Objects
The objects were created on tinkered.com using basic geometric shapes. The fish's body was created using a squashed sphere, two spheres for eyes, and three parabolic cones, two for the fins on the body and one for the tail. The hook was made with a cone for the spike, two cylinders, and two rings, one cut in half for the arch and one full ring for the loop for the line.
The way they are positioned was chosen to make printing them easier with less supports.
Printing the Objects

The objects were printed on a MakerBot using PLA. I don't have pictures of the printing process, but there were supports from the base to the fish's fins that were easy to break off without ruining the model. The hook, because it was printed horizontally, was also easy to break off the base with destroying it.
