A former high school guidance counselor and in-school suspension teacher, Patrick Van Amburgh has worked in management since 2013. Patrick Van Amburgh earned his master of education degree from Springfield College in Massachusetts, where he was active in intramural sports such as basketball and softball.

Springfield College is the alma mater of 13 former major league baseball (MLB) players, including:

- Glenn Adams. The last player from Springfield College to appear in an MLB game, Adams was selected fourth overall in the 1968 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. The left-handed hitting outfielder didn't make his MLB debut until 1975 as a member of the San Francisco Giants, but he went on to play 661 games in the league and recorded 34 home runs and 225 runs batted in (RBIs).

- Archie Moore. A left-handed hitting outfielder and first baseman, Moore played for Springfield from 1961 to ’63 and made his MLB debut on April 20, 1964, as a member of the New York Yankees. He played only 40 games in his brief career and managed one home run and five RBIs.

- Wayne Granger. A 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher, Granger made his MLB debut in 1968 with the St. Louis Cardinals and went on to pitch in 451 games for seven different teams throughout his nine-year career. He retired in 1976 with a career win-loss record of 35-35 and an earned run average of 3.14.
