A life of impressions - Start and Options Screens

A start screen for a possible game (just an idea for the "art class") based on the life of Oscar-Claude Monet.

(Monet's original painting used in this project: "Impression, sunrise")

(Monet's original painting used in this project: "Water Lillies" - 1906)
The style of the screens can be explained by some characteristics of the Impressionism.  in Impressionist works, if a person looks from very close it is hard to define what the image is. But by far, is possible to see something very different (this fact explains the layout with an image on the left and the menus on the right over a “blur”). Thus, when players are focused looking the menus, they can just feel part of the colors of the painting (since the blur is a complement of the colors from the original work), but without the whole picture on their minds. And then, if they stop to focus on the words they can see all the beauty of the painting.

At the titles on the screen is possible to see other characteristic: rich colors. Furthermore, with the colors, players can keep a brief idea about the original painting at the left side. And again, this kind of glimpse of the original subject is an important characteristic of the Impressionism movement.
