Brief:
Create a design based on a folklore costume.
Response:
I choose to look at the costumes of the Peking Opera.
Output:
The final design is a redesign of the umbrella/parasol. Layers, oversizing, movement and colors are used to describe and indicated the theatrical and dramatic effect of the spectacular costumes of the opera. The movement of the user is transferred to, and emphasized, through the movement of the umbrella due to the dynamic construction. The umbrella becomes a remarkable representation of the role you're playing out, whether you're on or off stage.
