World Skills is a registered charity and a recognized leader in responding to the needs of the local labour market while promoting the skills and talents of immigrants.
World Skills provides employers with access to a local pool of talent from around the world and has strong partnerships with more than 100 Ottawa employers. Since 2005, more than 20,000 internationally trained professionals have benefited from World Skills services.
World Skills was founded in 1997 by Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI), a coalition of settlement agencies in Ottawa, and is now a member of LASI.
World Skills 20th Anniversary
This year marks a very special occasion for us as we also celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary! What a great time to celebrate our country’s diversity and to reflect on the remarkable journey we have taken to support the integration of newcomers into the labour market.
Our anniversary theme is “Shaping Canada’s Future | Connecting Immigrants to Employment.” During our celebration, we will highlight our history, celebrate our collective successes in connecting immigrants to employment, recognize immigrant contributions to our city, and recognize our partnerships with employers, funders, community organizations and our alumni.
