Mephisto Palace Rotterdam
Jazzy diptych based on the famous, and notorious, old jazzclub 'Mephisto Palace'. One of Rotterdams first jazzbars (1934-1938).
The entrance of the old club was a big devil's head with it's mouth wide open, surrounded by fire torches. The eyes and flames in our design are referring to these diabolic elements - also symbolic to the way people used to look at jazz dance and black music at these times.
Big shout out to Rewriters 010, for making this possible, and thanks Woonstad and CBK for this cool job! We had a lot of fun painting these :)
