The Canvas Man

Sculpture Section 2 of 5

The Copper Organs; a copper stomach and heart were created for the Canvas Man project. The heart was made to house the illustrated book Mr. Stillcry.
Construction
Beaten from copper sheet, this sculpture was created like a large locket to house the book, joined by a modified door hinge and riveted together. The sheet is coarsely beaten with a large ball-pein hammer and then redefined with an 8 ounce hammer.
Two stages of construction
Heart fully opened
Construction

The Stomach
The stomach houses a video screen, it was 1st beaten out copper sheet and then cut back to make the screen housing. Like the heart, it is held together by rivets but for the more intricate areas i opted for solder as access was too limited.
