Like the underlying technology, the new beltpack is flexible: 4 different SKUs, each with different feature sets and interface components, all from the same base tooling. It packs a ton of industry leading technology into the world’s smallest, and easiest to use, intercom belt pack.
Designed and engineered by BOLTGROUP, the beltpack features a wrapping, protective frame with elastomeric overmold. Extended guards protect the controls from impacts or inadvertent contact. Silicone gaskets seal out water and dust. The assembly was tested and optimized for drop and water resilience via iterative prototypes. The CrewCom belt pack can be used in more environments, giving Coachcomm plenty of new markets for their world-class products.
The design was optimized with several rounds of wearable mock-ups, models and prototypes.
The CrewCom belt pack is small, light, and comfortable to wear thanks to it’s compact, rounded design. And the display and controls are easy to see and touch, and super-intuitive to use. So the user can forget about the device and focus on the task at hand, whether it’s coaching a football team or directing an oil rig crew.
The user interface can be controlled blind with one hand. An analog volume knob is aligned with a push-to-talk button for each communication channel. The design allows users to easily converse across up to four channels, while staying focused on their task. Football coaches can hear and respond to offense, defense, and special-teams channels without taking their eyes off the playing field. And production directors can coordinate lighting, sound, and camera teams while watching the actors on stage.
