Compassionate International is a ministry that provides a holistic approach to child development through sponsorship. Children enduring extreme poverty are directly sponsored by people with financial support, prayers and letter writing. The children also go to development centers that are church-based. Collaborating with over 7,000 churches in 26 countries, the nonprofit is helping lift more than 1.8 million infants, children, and young adults, out of poverty while exposing them to a Christian way of life.

To assist donors with their charitable decisions, the reputable Charity Navigator rates nonprofit organizations based on accountability and financial stewardship. In April 2016, it gave Compassion International its highest four star rating. This is the 15th consecutive year that the ministry has received the highest rating. Of the nonprofits reviewed by Charity Navigator, less than one percent have garnered 4 star ratings for 15 consecutive years.
