ABOUT

Agriculture contributes up to an estimated 14% of the planet's greenhouse gases, with a significant portion of these emissions coming from methane. More recently, research has shown cows to blame for these emissions, as these creatures emit methane naturally (much like humans do) but on a much larger scale. Methane can be up to 23 times more harmful for the environment than Carbon Dioxide, and with the U.S. Food and Agriculture Organization estimating an increase in these emissions by 60% in the next 10 years, the need for a big change is all the more imperative.
THE SOLUTION?
Marc /ˈmɑːrk/ -
is the solid remains of grapes, olives, or other fruit after pressing for juice or oil. It contains the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems of the fruit.
Recent studies have shown that the addition of grape marc to livestock feed, specifically cows, can dramatically decrease the amount of methane emissions from these animals while also recycling materials that otherwise would have been wastefully discarded. The goal of the BOVINO campaign was to increase consumer awareness of this practice by adding the BOVINO symbol to dairy and meat products made by cows that were fed grape marc to promote a cleaner earth.
