Arum
Ring of Ashes - by Carla Cava - 2011
The Arum project is the transformation of the cremation ash of a beloved one, into a unique and poetic object. The Arum ring is placed around the trunk of a tree creating a personal space of remembrance. The material used is the actual ash together with an organic filler, with the use of additive manufacturing technology.

The piece disintegrates over time being dissolved and absorbed at the base of the tree; this time lapse coinciding with the end period of mourning. The ring has a protruding personalized inner design which will create a never ending mark on the tree during growth. This mark will be a life remembrance between relatives, friends and the deceased.
