This campaign stems from a school project brief about values — my selected value was empathy. I found that people from my community cared about the Syrian refugee crisis, but were not aware of a platform where they could pitch in and help. Letters Beyond Borders is a pen-pal program that aims to connect Singaporeans to the youth of Zaatari, a sprawling refugee camp in Jordan where 58% of the refugees are children (WHO). Nurturing the emotional wellbeing of these children is as important as addressing their basic healthcare needs. Letter-writing is a great way for the participants of Letters Beyond Borders to express themselves, share stories from their hometown, and form friendships all across the world. 

A letter-writing kit will be sent to each participant once in two months. Inside each kit, there are letter papers, stickers, envelopes, pens and cards; essentially everything you would need to write a letter. The aim of this kit is to make letter-writing accessible, fun and fuss-free.
