The first question that we asked ourselves was “Who eat crêpes?”
Everybody eat crêpes, no? Indeed the target ranges from adults to children. It is a simple snack that can be enjoyed any time of the day and every season of the year.
Another question was: “Where can I try them?”
This product is usually sold in crowded places, were people meet and spend time together, for example parks, festival and all touristic zones.
To amortize the costs and create a simple eco-friendly kiosk we thought to use the bicycle as a means of transport, the so-called cargo bike. The structure will be small and light but at the same time it will contain everything the vendor needs to make crepes.
For what concerns the menu, we decided to focus only on sweet crêpes to minimize the storage space and create a larger range of condiments.
Moreover, we imagined the cargo with a rectangular horseback shape so that the vendor can feel comfortable in his working space. The kiosk will be divided into three areas: on the left there will be the plate to cook two crêpes at the same time, on the right the cash, while at the front there will be the fruit and ice cream storage, a plexiglas display case and the space to prepare the dishes. On the right side and behind the cargo there are two surfaces where customers can enjoy their meal without hindering the chef.
Another point is that we designed storage space for two boxes under the counter for cooking tools and the grains, a space for the water, a refrigerator for ice cream and fruit, water, and a generator to power the plates and the light.
In order to support the durability and maintenance required, we chose stainless steel as the material for the workbench and the interiors. The exterior material will be laminated wood and PVC; the display case will be made of plexiglas and the ceiling of fiberglass.
The aim is to create a cool and youthful environment, modern and at the same time vintage. The kiosk is easily recognizable thanks to its contrasting colors, which are inspired by the crêpes and its condiments.
In conclusion, the result is an eco-friendly cargo bike, one that is portable and foldable.
