Travel and Architecture Solos

From the industrial wastelands, abandoned warehouses & cityscapes of London, high up in
the Alps of Switzerland and mountainous valleys of Spain. ‘Moments’ is a series of
photographs that show nature and modernity’s unique expressions within European culture
and environment.
As a film maker you want to establish location, evoke a feeling and create a reaction that
brings the viewer into the world of the film. As a photographer I wish to do the same. Whilst
the aid of the moving image isn’t available, you have just one frame to express that moment,
story or theme. The photographer visually communicates through the image; it gives way to a
mutual exchange between both artist and viewer. A process that inspires thought, new ideas
and different interpretations of human creativity.

Whilst travelling to different parts of Europe, I noted that each landscape has its own natural
feel, texture, light, shape and order, This too is reflected culturally through man’s expression
of architecture, design and use of space. An ethos that not only relates to our architectural
and environmental way of co-existing but underlines how we live, think and create within our
surroundings and interactions, an ever- present force that results in evolution, progress and
development. Whether negative or positive, these changes will continue to happen within our
environment and expressions of modernity.

Yohan Forbes is a filmmaker and photographer based in the U.K, his 2009 film “Project
One,” a skateboard journey across the architectural landscape of London, went go on to win
“Best Film” at the BFI Future Film Festival, became acquired into the BFI national archives,
headlined a collection of transport films in Trafalgar square at the 53rd London Film Festival
event “London Moves Me,” and featured in 30 film festivals across the globe. In 2010 Forbes
was commissioned by the BFI to produce and direct the trailer for the Future Film Festival.
Following the success of the trailer, he has gone on to work for top brands such as Adidas and
Wonderbra. While continuing a collection of photography that has covered events such as the
