Carnet de voyage -- Travel Notebooks

Carnet de voyage - travel journal 1971
5x8 format, aquarelle, fusain, et crayon
This is from an old travel journal I kept while living in Rio de janeiro in 1971. It only survived in fragments of paper and memory, so I re-painted some of the scenes from memory, along with some modern updates.
Rio de janeiro can't be described in words; it has to be smelled, tasted, danced, and you can almost paint it, but you can't fully describe it. If you don't have the soul of an artist or writer or musician before you go, you will before you leave.

This is an old travel journal from 1971 that only survive in mildewed fragments and in memory. I'm reproducing it here, mostly from memory, and adding a few modern updates (as of 2012). I was travelling in Rio de janeiro at the time.
