A Virtual Reality Experience of Dunhuang (Cave 285)

In order to represent the Dunhuang frescoes truthfully, we paid a visit to the Mogao Caves in person. With the special permission from the Dunhuang Academy China, we bring computers into the Cave 285 to compare the 3D scanned models and textures with the real frescoes. Under the faint flashlight, we observed the color and material carefully. We spent hours after hours adjusting the shaders and textures of the digital models, so that the VR experience would be the closest representation to reality.
