The time machine is a book that captures the imagination and takes the reader on adventures in completely new worlds. The first thing a reader sees is the cover of a book. The author relies on a good cover to invite the reader to pick up the book and start reading. Designing this book, my goal was to create a feeling that the viewer had no limit of direct space. A key part of this is allowing the viewer to get lost in the dynamics of the illustration as if they were time traveling themselves. In order to present someone with the notion that there is dimension, there has to be contrast. There is a fixed and stable cover that holds value and weight to the books front side; while the back cover alludes to the notion of traveling through space in an abstract suggestion.
