Groovemine.com Mascot and Header Graphic

The "Groovemine Guy", drawn by hand, scanned, and traced with the pen tool in Illustrator.
A little Photoshop footwork to give the impression of a screen-printed graphic on cardboard. This sparked what would eventually become the design for the website header.
My rendition of the header with the Groovemine logo.
The final header as it appears on the website.
This project was done for the website Groovemine.com, a site devoted to turning up new independent music in both Seattle, Washington, and Austin, Texas. The idea was to create a new header for the site's 1-year anniversary. Coinciding with this came the development of a mascot for the site…and so the Groovemine Guy was born. Inspiration came from old record albums, printed miscellany, and the idea of an adorable little miner that digs up gems of music gold for you to hear.
