A battle beyond time, beyond space. Shad of Akir and 6 other warriors defend his planet from a barbarian's army. This design was inspired by 7 elements swooping toward a a common point suspended beyond a body in space.
The seed is planted... the nightmare grows. A space ranger lands at a research station where a flesh-eating mutant is loose. This design merges the distinctive grinning teeth of the mutant creature in this film with the form of the titular planetoid.
She's too good to be true...and too real to be otherwise. When an interstellar police cruiser is sent to recover a precious blue crystal in the 31st century, crew member and android Galaxina is left alone as the others are put into suspended animation as part of the mission. The design merges a feminine eyelash with an abstracted galaxy to create a distinct yet mysterious femininity .
Hell has just been relocated! Neurotic astronauts discover an alien pyramid and face a giant worm and other monsters on a distant planet. Taking direct cues from the design of the pyramid, with an eye in the center to indicate danger from within.
With an insatiable hunger, they are coming...Mankind is their prey. When a space mission involving astronauts encounters an alien craft, the vampiric humanoids within are brought aboard the shuttle and brought back to earth. This design merges the shuttle used to bring the bat creatures back to earth.
Where Fantasies are Real & Reality is Fantastic. Peace-loving denizens look to the skies, sending out magical seeds meant to find protectors of the troubled world. This design cues rising sun and water-color elements to bring attention to the origins of this Japanese entry. The jagged edges of the rays and their radial direction indicate a message of danger.
On Jupiter's moon he's the only law. An honest marshal in a corrupt mining colony on Io, Jupiter's sunless third moon, is determined to confront a violent drug ring even though it may cost him his life. The design blends the image of a police badge with elements of the solar system with planetoids and orbiting moons, which are dark being blocked from the souce of light.
Some*thing* is wrong on Saturn 3. A madman and his shiny robot chase a couple doing food research on Saturn's third moon. The design calls attention to the 3rd body around a ringed planet. The tilted angle of the alignment gives a sense of disorientation and the planet being a precarious position.
From a vast and distant galaxy... A space adventure for all time! An outlaw smuggler and her alien companion are recruited by the Emperor of the Galaxy to rescue his son and destroy a secret weapon. This design takes complex symmetry from production design cues found throughout the film.
It's been sleeping peacefully on a moon of Saturn for 2000 centuries ... until now! An alien-thing stalks corporate rivals from U.S. and German spaceships on one of Saturn's moons. This amalgamation of US and German flag cues wrapped around a sphere speaks to possibly the only distinctive thing about this movie.
