The Chicago Cubs ended a remarkable 108-year World Series drought in November of 2016 when they defeated the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 of the final round of the Major League Baseball (MLB) playoffs. Cubs fans weren't the only ones excited about the game and its outcome, however; FOX, which aired the game, scored record-setting ratings and viewership.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Game 7 drew a 25.2/40 overnight rating, which was the highest metered market rating for a MLB game since Game 7 of the 2001 World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees. It was also the most watched telecast on FOX since Super Bowl 50 in February of 2016. As a whole, the seven-game series was also the highest rated since the 2001 clash between the Diamondbacks and Yankees as it averaged a 14.9/23 share.
