The home he rents is in poor condition and not well insulated. Viles said he will rely mostly on his electric blanket to keep warm this winter.

Twins Orus, left and Odus Stokes have spent their entire lives side by side in Brownwood. They are 86 years old and have worked at their auto body shop, Stokes Brothers Garage, since 1941. Their shop is located on the corner of Main and West Mayes streets, the brothers are proud to say they learned about mechanics on their own. They say the secret to their longevity is hard work.

Hunter Tibbetts, 7, stepped onto the school bus in a less cheerful mood than normal Thursday morning. His younger brother, Payton, had shut the car door on Hunter's head while waiting on the school bus. Tibbetts recovered from his injuries during the ride to Conestoga Elementary School as other students piled onto the bus. Driver Jimmy Bentz said hello and good morning to all the students as they stepped onto the bus. Bentz picks up about 65 elementary school students on his morning route.
Keith and Bonnie Omang installed a solar panel behind their home in Nickelson Little Farms in July. Bonnie Omang said installing the solar panel was something she could do to help preserve the planet for her grandchildren.

Harold Vontress,87, of Mt. Pleasant, Ky. collects aluminum cans from the Classic Touch Car Wash and Lube Center in Bowling Green, Ky. on Wednesday morning. Vontress has lived in Bowling Green for over 50 years. He worked at Riley's Bakery for 30 years. He never had children, his wife of 51 years, Myrtle Ruth, died in 2000. Vontress said now to fill his time he collects cans, mows two yards a week, goes to church and goes fishing.
