The Brief: This was the last brief of my first year at Ravensbourne University. Our task was to chose any recipe we wanted and communicate each step of the recipe with icons or pictograms. The final outcome could be any medium we decided was appropriate, and the only text to be included was for our key.
The Outcome: As this was the final project of the year, I wanted to create something really colourful and exciting. I chose a recipe I had made before, by Jamie Oliver, for Pina Coladas. The icon design was challenging, initially I hadn't realised how many ingredients and utensils were needed to make the cocktail. During our design process each of us had to test another student's recipe to guarantee it was easily understood and achievable (you couldn't leave anything out!)
For the final product I wanted to design something that would be part of a cocktail making set and the medium I chose was a small booklet. The font cover is a three fold, so the user can easily refer back to the key page. The overall design and colour scheme was inspired by the cocktail itself, and it's Caribbean roots.
