This project was inspired by Adventure Time's Candy People and the nation's love of junk food.

My main inspiration for Cute Foods was a character I had designed in my first year of university; Donut Dad, who began life as a game character. His adorable appearance made him instantly recognisable and quite popular among peers and members of the public. At the moment there are only four characters for Cute Foods; Donut Dad, Burger Boy, Ice Queen and Pizza Pal. Depending on the characters popularity I will eventually create more Cute Foods characters.

After I brought the designs into Illustrator I used my graphics tablet to colour and re-touch the designs, I kept the designs simple using flat colours as I didn't want to distract viewers away from the cuteness of the sketches.

To make the designs more interesting and potentially more desirable, I designed a tiled version of each character to fit with current phone case design trends.  

I decided transparent cases would work best for these designs, coloured cases come with the issue of which colours work will with which designs. By printing onto transparent phone cases I have eliminated this problem, also through my research, I have found that transparent phone cases are more popular and cheaper to buy in bulk. 

The T-Shirt designs are very straight forward. The designs would be printed like this until the brand gets more recognised and starts to make more money, at that point I can look back at my research and consider mixed media or embroidery.
