Project: to develop and design a dynamic interface to communicate a narrative using data (and metadata) or a combination about Detroit.
Our concept: In our initial research, we found that firearm suicides made up over half of all suicides in Wayne County. We also found it is very easy to get a gun in Michigan, with no required waiting time. Getting psychiatric help can sometimes take months. If someone is suicidal, getting a gun is much quicker and cheaper than getting mental help. However, “suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem”. While buying a gun and committing suicide may seem to be the easiest solution, getting help is worth the time and money because you walk away with your life.
