The radix urbem project
What does a city name mean?
Editione principe  - Canada
Radix Urbem is an ongoing personal project that focus its attention on cities names and their meanings. In my opinion, there are so many funny names out of there that can be converted into design. Some are translated quite literally, other needs a more complex creative process.

I wanted to get a funny approach and realize a quite minimalist and clear design, where the visual could stand immediately and get the attention of the viewer. who has to decode the pictogram, connecting it to the city name.

This is the first edition of a series of posters dedicated and sorted by countries, and feature the following contents:

CITIES
Vancouver, BC
Yellowknife, NT
Whitehorse, YK
Regina, SK
Whistler, BC

I chose to start with Canada because it's where this idea came in my mind. It is an homage I wanted to give to this wonderful country, full of breathtaking spots, multitudes of enriching differences and beautiful people where I had chance to live for about 6 months.

As Canada gave a lot to me, I want to give something back to Canada so, very soon you'll be able to buy any (or all) of these posters. The 10% of each sale will be donated to a Canadian no-profit organization which assist and support First Peoples in British Columbia.
