Rooster Coffee Pot / product design

The Rooster Coffee Pot was created during the summer of 2012. After learning the basics of wood-turning techniques during the previous summer from a student at Rochester Institute of Technology, I decided to design a common-use object in a unique way. Since all wood-turned objects are symmetrical objects, I wanted to explore an idea: what would happen if I were to cut away a portion of a bowl or some similar object and replace it with another piece of wood. Made from cherry and black walnut hardwoods, the 8 X 12 inch coffee pot serves hot liquids and its deep interior extends to the neck.
