The Wring - CD Design & Art Direction

The Wring is a progressive rock band in Sudbury, Ontario.
For the release of their debut album, they wanted an album design that personified their music.
They also needed some merchandise designs, alongside a logo and website.
The design process started with an board of a few options for the band to decide from for what would eventually become the final album artwork.
Some of these options were later recycled in the full packaging design.
Beyond just the packaging and logo, they also needed some merchandise designed.
They wanted to make something classic, but with a newer twist on it.
We decided on going for the classic metal band skull tee - but we brought in some new elements to it.
To create this tee I started with a 3D skull model I sourced online that I brought into Mudbox to play with.
After distorting it a bit in Mudbox, I exported the model and brought it into Cinema 4D where I used Thrausi to break it apart and give it a heavy distortion.
Following this, I imported the model into Project Felix to render out a high quality model for the direct-to-garment printed tees.
