For thisproject, I took a journey to Virmond Park, Mequon, WI. I paid attention tosounds, smells and sights. I wrote my observations into sketchbook andphotographed and collected things of interest. I was especially interested inthe variety of animals and insects that I observed. I wanted to design a composition using typographic elementsthat were grouped, puzzled together to resemble how everything fits together inthe nature.
After I developeda concept I explored different grids, axial and radial. I experimented withcolor schemes and visual elements that supported the typography. I created avariety of compositions exploring layout, orientation, and possible textualarrangements. I explored how type size, weight, letter spacing, word spacing, leading, and alignment affect the reading of a composition in visual form. Iused the information I gathered during a journey to design a cohesive, interesting and dynamic composition composed out of typographic element andsupporting visual elements.
