The Incomplete Manifesto for Growth

The Incomplete Manifesto for Growth
Break it, stretch it, bend it, crush it, crack it, fold it.
A work based on a quote from Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto for Growth.
"Break it, stretch it, bend it, crush it, crack it, fold it."
The only photoshopping or digital media involved is placing the words onto the poster. All six lines were recorded using a camera and created by a projector box I made out of paper and my cell phone flash light. I cut the six lines separately in the Helvetica type face onto pieces of paper and slid them into the box before shining light through it. I then used my cell phone light to project it on various surfaces. For example 'break it' was done on glass, 'stretch it' was on plastic wrap. I wanted to convey the meaning of the words via distortion of light.

Helvetica is considered a very clean and general purpose typeface. I was inspired when I did something similar by crumpling paper and a classmate said what makes it truly broken is that I drew a very normal looking styled typeface onto the paper. So I decided by breaking Helvetica and seeing it under a new light (literally) was a good way to portray this quote.
