Progetto Cartoy: aerei della
seconda Guerra Mondiale

Packaging for a paper toy and model : airplane of Second World War
This project proposed by the Cartotecnica Cambianese with the cooperation of the Multiphisics aerospace engineers.
It is a series of planes made of paper that had to be assembled and fly. They represent three planes of the World War II: Macchi MC 205 V, the Corsair FU4 and the Supermarine Spitfire.
They intend to bring out a new image of the company and they also want to enter in a new merchandise area for a cardboard, that of the market toy and model.
A model airplane must have the right location and historical iconography, it must comply with all the details known as the originals. The accuracy is a key element, so it was necessary to analyze technical and historical documents and through photos or images designing elements of each plane.
It was also necessary to take into account the method of prototypea mpunting system created by engineers, and on this basis all graphics have been applied.
The paper airplanes need an innovative packaging.
So I thought to use the package as a booklet, as a vehicle of product informations, each face of the package would had to report informations relating to the aircraft, the assembly instructions,  the historical informations,  the technical specifications and the "pills of physics."
In this way you could save money on costs of  booklets production.
Then how to get the information read on the packaging?
The idea was to create a package that is opened in accordion, as the act that can be done by opening or leafing a brochure.
This type of opening allows using the same weight cardboard of planes , so the pieces of the aircraft can be placed directly on the package. So we can produce them separately and we cam eliminate a step in
packaging production phase.
In this way the single piece had to be inserted in the pack during the production phase in addiction with the bag for the laminil coupled and washers. In the package has been positioned a tab on the outer side
of the pack to keep stopping the little bag, this tab is also a support  of one of the plane pieces.
A type of  tear opening has bee used to seal the wrapping that allows you not  to spoil the package. it was decided to put on the upper side of the pack a hole for the hook to hang the bags in the shop.
Another important phase of the project is the correct positioning of the graphics elements and the informations: they had to be functional and easy to read.
I also thought to enrich the package with an extra element which gave as much as possible the idea of the finished product before starting to mount. This elmet has to stimulate the motivation to manual work
and gratify the final work.
so I added a plane pop up in the box!
