Designed in collaboration with professional BMX rider Ryan Guettler, the Official stem was created for a world-class athlete, who demands quality tools (i.e.bicycles) for his trade. Clever internal machining sections were designed into this 7075-T6 aluminium product to remove unnecessary material and considerably reduce weight; this solution still conveys the look of a solid stem and it's true strength. The Official Stem holds the optimum balance between high strength, rigidity and low weight; to provide riders with the confidence and reliability to perform at the highest level.

One of the first Colony products to enter the market in 2007, the Official Stem adopted several design cues that would become important to product branding, and creating products that were distinctly ‘Colony’.

Internal machining areas were the solution to remove unnecessary material and considerably reduce weight; while still conveying the look of a solid stem and it's true strength.
This 7075-T6 aluminium product holds the optimum balance between high strength, rigidity and low weight; to provide riders with the confidence and reliability to perform at the highest level. 2D engineering drawings as well as 3D models were prepared for production (CNC milling) and approvals.
The continued success of the Colony Official Stem has dictated it’s design - it has remained unchanged in over 7 years on international markets.
