Stamp for World Cup South Africa 2010

This is a pair of stamps created for An Post, Ireland's Post Office, to mark Ireland's entry in the Soccer World Cup in South Africa in 2010. I used an illustrative style influenced by the Dutch print method of blocky shapes in sharp colours. One stamp uses the South African colours and the other features the Irish tricolour. Both literally and figuratively, South Africa is the ball and Ireland is the player. Sadly, once Ireland was knocked out of the World Cup qualifiers in 2009, An Post decided not to proceed with the stamp.
