The invitations were inspired by the backdrop of the wedding venue, the historic civic district by the Singapore river, framed by modern buildings of the central business district. We wanted to evoke a sense of nostalgia and conceptualised a vintage-style postcard as the invitation to guests.The bride and groom were illustrated in their wedding outfits in a modern art deco style, while invitation details were hand written, scanned and printed en masse to achieve a handmade look. Every single invite was hand cut to create the scallop edge reminiscent of vintage postcards.
To give the invitations a more authentic feel, we created two sets of stamps - one inspired by the Chinese word for double happiness, and another the couple’s French bulldog. These were printed on sticker paper and hand cut to simulate the sides of actual stamps. We also designed and produced a rubber stamp with the wedding date and hand stamped each invitation.
To tie in with the invitation, we created a set of 8 illustrations of the couple that were used through out the wedding - as gift tags wrapped around wedding favors, bottle labels that held floral decor, and fabric banner posters that hung in the restaurant.
