Freedom to Play Exhibit

The Freedom to Play exhibit was a class assignment that challenged students to not only use our design skills to create an attractive exhibit, but to also create a welcoming space for viewers.

I chose to make my exhibit space very open allowing the audience to move freely rather than be forced down a predetermined path.

The entire exhibit design is based around the quote, “ Basketball is the lens through which we can better understand the impact African Americans have had on American sport and society.”

This quote summed up the entire purpose of the exhibit.

Using this quote as inspiration, I chose to make the exhibit more image based, and also to use the circle as a prominent element in the design. I wanted the viewer to feel as if they were looking through a lens that chronicled the accomplishments and contributions of the African American in American sports.
