The Royal 2012/2013

The Royal
August 2012
Following the success of the cover art I produced during the previous season, Reading Football Club asked me to continue creating illustrations for the matchday programme ahead of their return to the Barclay's Premier League for the 2012/2013 campaign.

Having returned to the top-flight of English football, the club were looking to produce really striking and distinct programme art, and as a result I was asked to get involved with directing photography and even began capturing elements from behind the lens myself to bring across into the artworks in order to accurately portray the buzz and energy that could be felt around a club that is looking to evolve and grow in the near future.

Furthermore, I was now trusted with creating an identity for the publication, and produced a new 'The Royal' logotype to be used in the new season. I brought across an elegant, regal theme deriving from the club's nickname and the fact they are from the royal county of Berkshire and transformed the identity from the plain and basic font face that has been used in previous seasons.
